We’ve been using hologram SIMs in prototyping our product for several months. With the last couple of new SIMs we activated the routers we are using chose UMTS rather than LTE even though LTE service seems quite adequate here. We also tried in a different location with excellent (-80dBm) signal strength; that also used UMTS. But when we tried using a SIM that we registered many months ago, the router came up using LTE.
We need to be able to ship these routers to our customers’ sites and be assured that they will get the best connectivity possible at those sites. Should we be concerned about the use of UMTS rather than LTE?
