I’m developing an IoT solution for a company and am looking at the possibility of using the Pi with a Hologram SIM. This would require a peripheral for the SIM card, like a USB dongle. Because this is a product to be used in a real-world scenario across the U.S. And Canada, I’d like to ask if anyone knew of any regulations I should be aware of. Is it kosher to use a USB dongle in a public environment or is this considered a no-no?

I’m pretty sure it will be fine since both pi and dongle are certified. Certain test houses might advise you to test the configuration for unintentional radiated emissions.

If the FCC comes knocking you could always say both units were certified so we reasonably expected the whole unit to be compliant as well.
