Does Hologram support NB-IOT in South Africa.
My SIM doesn’t seem to register with a SIM7020.
Yes, APN is hologram.
Works fine on a phone.
Very unlikely at this point in time, so far I dont think any NB-IOT networks work with hologram simcards. It seems the carriers (Verizon, AT&T, Vodafone, etc) are currently only supporting their own sims on these networks and that most of these deployements are still very early releases / beta testing.
I am confident Hologram will support NB-IOT once they are able to, but no official timeline on when that will be.
It looks like Hologram does partner with Vodacom which has the NB-IOT network in South Africa so in the future its likely to work, although as I said above that could be 2 weeks or 2 years from now.
If you need NB-IOT on a known schedule I would suggest working directly with Vodacom, or use a different technology such as 2G + Hologram which looks like it has wide coverage and low risk of sunset in South Africa.
