Nova R410 won't Maintain Connection

I’m using a Nova R410 with a Raspberry Pi operating as a gateway for IoT devices. I expect to maintain a persistent connection. Despite having decent signal (~23,99), the modem will have days where it won’t stay connected for more than a couple of minutes.

Raspberry Pi 3B+
Raspbian Stretch Lite
Operator 310410 (AT&T)

I’m testing connectivity on a 10-minute interval using a ping to google.com, logging the results. When ping fail, my application (which uses UDP) also fails, so I don’t think the issue is with the veracity of ping.

Are there sdk or modem settings that I can use to keep the connection active? Does the SDK offer a way to check IP connectivity (other than ping?).
